Is there a way to retrieve the content I entered if my session timed out and I did not save my updates?

Unfortunately, if your session timed out before you before you navigated to another page or ran the completeness check, your content has been lost and cannot be retrieved. A recommended practice is to save regularly because the system timeout is triggered after 30 minutes of inactivity.
