Infonetica released an improvement in data security and dynamic logic on December 13, 2024 which results in a comprehensive check on all previous dependent answers.

The dependencies check will run any time you are changing a previously saved answer. This can happen while changing answers before a form is submitted, when you are modifying submissions, or amending after approval.

Prior to this improvement, previously nullified content was only hidden, but now this content will be permanently deleted from the latest version of your application. This way, your approved application will always be an accurate alignment between your answers and the powerful dynamic logic built around the Tri-Council Policy Statement guidelines.

User Experience

Users will notice a ‘checking for dependencies’ message after making a change to any of their previously submitted form answers.

The dependency check can result in a number of different outcomes for users:

  • If your changed response triggers new questions or document prompts, those sections of the form will be displayed (as per existing functionality).
  • If your changed response now negates previously required responses, users will see a pop-up window listing the previously dependent content that will be deleted based on your changed answer
    • Please review the previous content by clicking on the hyperlink(s)
    • Content will open in a new browser window for each previously dependent answer, leaving your existing browser window intact; this allows you to review any of the previously dependent answers more easily ‘outside’ of the form (see Important Note below)
    • After you have reviewed the content that will be deleted, return to your main browser window and confirm that you still wish to change your answer

Important Note

Any answers removed as a result of a dependency check can be reviewed using the ‘Compare to Previous Version’ mode, but they cannot be reinstated (without re-answering the questions and entering those same responses using the previous logic).

For this reason, if there is content in your previous answer that you anticipate needing to use or repurpose for subsequent edits in your form, we suggest you copy the former response to an MS Word file. Alternatively, do not close the browser window in which the previous answer opened until you have finished making all changes to your application.
