On behalf of the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, we invite all graduate students to attend the 2024 Rural Romp on Thursday, March 28, from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm!   This year’s Rural Romp will focus on “Roots and Relationships,” exploring connections between land, people, and place through a half day of talks and excursions. We have a very exciting lineup of activities, including:

The Rural Planning and Development program is hosting a town hall meeting with all current RPD students on March 27, 2024 from 12.00-1.00 pm EST. The meeting is an opportunity to check-in, receive program updates, discuss upcoming opportunities, celebrate achievements, and ask your questions. There will be a presentation from a representative of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 2:30 PM in the LA Pit.

School of Environmental Design and Rural Development – Rural Planning and Development Masters Thesis Examination

March Open House 2024 is the UofG’s spring open house event.  Join us to visit the campus, chat with professors and students, and learn why the University of Guelph is rated as one of Canada's top universities. Explore the campus through information sessions, campus tours, residence drop-in tours, resource fair and program tours.

Elzbieta Mastej, a PhD student in Rural Studies at the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, will present her qualifying examination on “Confronting Colonial Legacies of EA by Exploring the Nexus of EA and Participation.”

The Rural Symposium is an annual opportunity for University of Guelph graduate students to showcase their rural research to policymakers, policy analysts, and program staff from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). The event facilitates knowledge mobilization and network building between graduate students at the University of Guelph, researchers, and OMAFRA.
