Mood Moves

The Wellness Education Centre is hosting virtual Mood Moves every Wednesday for students and employees. Join us for a quick stretching and movement session at your own comfort level! Our group will meet online for a quick check in, followed by about 10 minutes of stretching and light activity! This group aims to support your mental and physical health by providing you with an opportunity to take a step back from your responsibilities and stresses, while helping add some activity into your day.

Wellness Friday: Respectful Relationships in the Workplace

Creating a respectful workplace is everyone’s responsibility. This workshop will raise awareness around what respectful behaviour looks like, promote the adoption of a professional attitude, assist with the development of effective communication skills, and suggest common standards for respectful behaviour. Facilitator: Homewood Health Register on the Learning and Development website.

2021 Virtual Yoga Speaker Series - Hans Bakker

Dr. Hans Bakker has taught sociology at the University of Guelph for thirty-five years. His yoga teacher training was at Sivananda and Kripalu and he taught asanas and pranayama as well as meditation. He also participated in Tibetan Buddhist chanting.

Introduction to Health and Safety - Lunch and Learn

The Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act) is the safety legislation that governs all provincial workplaces, including the University of Guelph. The Act assigns safety responsibilities to various workplace parties and its Regulations outline expectations and provide guidance for the performance of safe work in the workplace. Participants will have an introduction to the various parts of the Act and gain insights into the application of the Act and the Regulations at University of Guelph workplaces.

Join this interactive session to explore how you can use a consistent strategy, tools, and processes for managing effective meetings. Learn the “secret sauce” to creating an effective meeting agenda, become more efficient to respect everyone’s investment of time, and discover online tools to make your meetings more engaging in a virtual working world. Whether you lead meetings regularly or occasionally, it is important to be prepared to get the most out of it.

Decreasing Headaches

This session is offered by Kathy Somers. More than 1 or 2 headaches a month are too many . . . After looking at numerous research studies, the U.S. Headache Consortium (which includes 7 medical societies) has given relaxation therapy, cognitive stress management approaches, and specific biofeedback treatments a Grade A efficacy rating in treating migraine headaches!
