Be Ready with Naloxone: Stigma-Free Substance Use Support

Join Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and Student Wellness Services for a supportive, judgment-free workshop focused on reducing substance-use stigma and building confidence in responding to opioid poisonings. Many people—including students, colleagues, friends, family members, and even youth—may be at risk without others realizing it. Being prepared with knowledge and a naloxone kit helps keep our entire community safer.

SafeTalk Suicide Prevention Training - January 2026

Designed by Living Works, SafeTALK is a 3.5 hours alertness training and certification that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. This training includes understanding of the importance of suicide alertness, learning to identify ways people invite help, and how to connect those who need help with resources when they are at risk.

Refill Your Cup: Practical Strategies for Energy and Well-Being

Feeling drained, distracted, or low on motivation? This one-hour lunch and learn offers practical strategies to help you understand, assess, and manage your energy for greater well-being. The following session will incorporate Martin Seligman's PERMA model, a research-backed framework from positive psychology. The PERMA model focuses on five key areas that contribute to well-being:

Heidi has been consulting with individuals and organizations for over 25 years. Tap into her expertise on mindful eating, sport nutrition, emotional eating, menopause nutrition, anti-inflammatory eating or any question relating to your personal nutrition needs. Heidi can help you get the exploration started and point you in the direction of reputable sources of nutrition information. 

U of G on Tour: Get to know your campus Athletics & Recreation Facilities

Looking to start a new fitness or wellness journey? Did you know that all staff/faculty on campus have access to a subsidized rate to use the on-campus facilities? Join us on a tour of what programming/services and equipment are available to our staff/faculty members and why the Athletic facilities might just be the best fit for you! Attendees of this tour will receive a free day pass for recreation in the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, including access to the Fitness Centre and / or a fitness class, to use at their convenience!

Trauma-informed Care for Staff and Faculty

This two-hour, in-person training is designed to help all staff and faculty increase their knowledge and awareness about trauma and its impacts.  The training provides strategies for implementing the Six Principles of Trauma-Informed Care, including self-regulation and self-care practices, to improve competency in working with and supporting students who have experienced trauma. This training consists of four modules:

Free Drop-In Recreational Skating - December 2025

Get into the holiday spirit with some skating, hot beverages, and snacks! Grab your skates and head down to the Gryphon Centre Arena for a recreational skate to take a break in the day. Hosted by Athletics & Recreation for staff and faculty to attend as part of Wellness@Work. Helmets are recommended and staff and faculty should bring their U of G cards. Attendees will need to sign a waiver before entering the rink. Hot beverages and light snacks will be available. Please also consider bringing an item to donate to the Guelph Student FoodBank.

Self-Care Strategies: Helpful Now and Always

We often hear people say “take care of yourself.” What does this really mean? This one-hour session will increase participants’ awareness and understanding of self-care and highlight the factors that can promote and preserve their health and well-being – now and always.
