College of Arts students win top Classical Association of Canada Undergraduate Essay Competition prizes
Wednesday, October 2nd – 9:45 A.M., MCKN 265
Not one, but two University of Guelph students won the top prizes awarded by the Classical Association of Canada Undergraduate Essay Competition. Rachel Hill and Yoel Yakobi of the School of Languages and Literatures took home first place in the Senior and Junior essay categories. Rachel won the senior prize for her essay “Penelope’s Book 19 Recognition” and Yoel won the junior prize for his essay “Ekphrasis and the Significance of the World within the Shield of Achilles in Homer’s Iliad.”
The CAC Undergraduate Essay Competition showcases the research of undergraduates in Classics courses across Canada. Neither the junior nor senior applicants need to be Classics majors, but senior applicants must be enrolled in upper-level specialized Classics courses.
On Wednesday, October 2nd at 9:45 A.M., join us in MacKinnon 265 for coffee and a celebration of our students’ national recognition – a reflection of our excellence in teaching and learning. Congratulations to both Rachel and Yoel!
