The Future of Groundwater Research Celebrated at Morwick G360 Event
The Morwick G360 Groundwater Research Institute (Morwick G360) welcomed 75 guests in person and another 25 guests online to celebrate and learn more about groundwater’s role on our planet. President Charlotte Yates addressed the need for partnership and collaboration, thanking the ongoing support of our alumni, industry and government partners, and fellow researchers. While the Morwick G360’s Director, Dr. Beth Parker discussed the critical challenges facing our groundwater resources in Canada and around the world.
The University of Guelph is raising funds to help create the Morwick Groundwater Research Centre to house the institute. The space will accommodate modern labs, teaching and outreach rooms, and an active borehole to access groundwater right on site. Proud graduate, Ted Morwick gave $5M, along with other advocates to jointly raise over $7M to support the initiative and now the U of G is looking for an additional $2M to complete the project.
