Two CEPS Students Win Poster Awards at the ISE Meeting in Montreal

The 75th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) was held at the Palais des Congrès located in downtown Montréal, Canada from August 18th to August 23th this year. Two University of Guelph graduate students in the Department of Chemistry won poster awards.

Six CEPS Students Win Awards at the ISESS at U of G

At the International Symposium on Electrochemistry and Surface Science (ISESS) in Honour of Jacek Lipkowski's 80th Birthday, held from August 14th to August 17th at the University of Guelph, six U of G CEPS students won notable awards. 

Student Oral Presentation Winners:

  • Stephen Tatarchuk, graduate student in the Department of Chemistry, won 1st place in Section 1 for a presentation on Insight into Catalyst Activity for the Electrooxidation of Ammonia from Linear Scaling Relations and Microkinetic Modeling.

CEPS Student Wins Brian D. Sullivan Student Leadership Award

Shaiza Hashmi, Computer Science student in the College of Engineering & Physical Sciences was awarded the Brian D. Sullivan Student Leadership Award from Student Experience. This award is presented to a graduating student who has made significant contributions to student leadership through their involvement as an elected or appointed student representative at the University of Guelph. 

Physics PhD Student Wins Top Presentation at Nano Ontario Conference

Nicholas van Heijst, Physics PhD student working with Dr. John Dutcher, was chosen top three best student oral presentations for his talk at the recent Nano Ontario Conference at Western University held on June 18-19. This year's conference spotlighted soft matter and biological interfacial reactivity at the nanoscale. Nicholas' work focuses on finding novel and simple ways to solubilize hydrophobic molecules using safe and naturally-ocurring nanoparticles called phytoglycogen. 

PhD Student Wins 1st Prize at CSME/CFD International Congress 2024

Enshen Zhu, PhD student in engineering systems and computing at the University of Guelph, won 1st prize in the Best Student Paper Competition at the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME) and the CFD Society of Canada (CFDSC) International Congress 2024.

U of G Physics Students Win Awards at CAP Congress 2024

At the Annual Canadian Association of Physicists Congress 2024, held from March 27th to March 31st at Western University, five University of Guelph Physics students distinguished themselves and won notable awards amidst 585 registered delegates. 

Engineering Students Win 2023 MetSoc Photo Contest

Two engineering students at the University of Guelph have won top prizes for a photo contest hosted by the Metallurgy and Materials Society (MetSoc) of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM). M.A.Sc. mechanical engineering student Sevda Fathipour won first place, while fourth year mechanical engineering student Gautam Naresh Genani won third place for the 2023 MetSoc Student Multi-Scale Image Contest.
