Chemistry PhD candidate Samantha Binkley earned first place in the student poster competition at the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE) Annual R&D Workshop, held on December 8-10, 2025. The workshop included a dedicated one-day program showcasing graduate student research through presentations and posters.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shanoon, a post-doctoral scholar in the AI Lab in the School of Computer Science, has been awarded Best Presentation at the 2025 8th International Conference on Digital Medicine and Image Processing (DMIP) in Tokyo, Japan. Held at the University of Tokyo from November 27–30, DMIP is a leading international conference where researchers and professionals from around the world share new work in digital medicine, image processing and related fields.
PhD candidate Genievieve Borg is the 2026 recipient of the Gilead Early Career Award for Excellence in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, presented by the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC). This award acknowledges an early career chemist as a mark of distinction and recognition for excellence in their work advancing equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Mukaila Ibrahim, a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry, has been awarded an Inorganic Poster Award for his presentation at the 2025 Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC) in Ottawa. His poster received outstanding reviews from the judging committee, reflecting both the quality of his research and his dedication to preparation and presentation.
