CEPS Appoints Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies
Dr. Monica Cojocaru has been appointed as Associate Dean, Research & Graduate Studies, of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences for a five-year term effective June 1, 2024 following a competitive search process.
Dr. Cojocaru has served as interim Associate Dean, R&GS since August of 2022 and provided excellent research and graduate leadership to the College during that time. Dr. Cojocaru is a Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and previously served as the Graduate Coordinator for the Department.
During her interim term, Dr. Cojocaru has led enhancements to our research process efficiency and funding, such as advocating to major funding bodies and government for better funding structures and significant support to researcher funding applications; introduced new opportunities for our graduate student community such as launching 10K Coffees and the Pods & Mentorship program; and minimum funding levels for graduate student stipends have been raised. Additionally, the Canada Cyber Foundry and new interdisciplinary course-based master’s programs were established.
Over the next five years, Dr. Cojocaru will prioritize new opportunities for research funding, data-informed graduate recruitment planning and programs, and IEDI initiatives, along with enhancing recognition for CEPS research.
