Posted on Friday, June 28th, 2024

Nicholas van Heijst, Physics PhD student working with Dr. John Dutcher, was chosen top three best student oral presentations for his talk at the recent Nano Ontario Conference at Western University held on June 18-19. This year's conference spotlighted soft matter and biological interfacial reactivity at the nanoscale. Nicholas' work focuses on finding novel and simple ways to solubilize hydrophobic molecules using safe and naturally-ocurring nanoparticles called phytoglycogen.

"My research has promising and long-term applications in nutrition and pharmacy with the hope that phytoglycogen can be used as a delivery vehicle for drug formulations," he said.

Congratulations Nicholas!
