Academic support in Residence
Academic Support Centres
Academic Support Centres (ASCs) help students with specific courses, to learn about study skills, and to ask for academic guidance.
ASCs are located in:
- North Residence – Lennox Addington Hall (Second Floor Commons)
- South Residence – Mountain Hall (End of Overpass)
- East Residence – Main Floor (Near Glengarry Entrance)
Academic Support Centres run every Monday to Thursday from 7 - 9 p.m. and are also offered virtually. This resource, staffed by our academic team, is a great place to study, ask questions, and collaborate with your peers.
For more information about Academic Support Centres speak to your Residence Assistant or Cluster Leader or stop by one of the Centres.

Academic Events
Exam Preparation
In collaboration with course instructors, Residence Life Staff provide midterm review sessions each semester. These review sessions simulate an exam environment and provide students with review sheets with solutions. Course instructors often attend to answer questions.
Study Breaks
- Throughout the semester students are invited to weekly Take a Paws events to have some quality dog cuddles with certified comfort dogs.
- During final exams each semester the Residence Life Staff provide stressbusting study breaks each day. These events are an opportunity to gather with your friends and have a bit of fun during a potentially stressful time.
Connecting to Campus Resources
Residence Life Staff are knowledgeable about academic supports across campus. They’re able to refer you to professional staff in the Library, Student Wellness, Student Experience, Accessibility Services, or your academic department. Talk to your Residence Assistant or Cluster Leader if you need help finding the right resource or academic support.
Supported Learning Groups
Supported Learning Groups (SLGs) are weekly group study sessions led by peer-facilitators to support many undergraduate courses. SLGs are held in the library and you may attend regularly or drop in as needed.
Supported Learning Groups are a free, fun, and effective way to study. Participation in SLGs helps to review course material, learn new study skills, identify what you know and do not know in the course, and help you gain confidence and stay motivated.
