Why live in residence?
Convenience
All campus residences are just an 8-10-minute walk from the heart of campus, with easy access to services like fitness, health, career support, the library, and more.
Lifelong Friends
You will meet many amazing people during Orientation Week and through residence programs and events throughout your time living on campus.
24-hour assistance
Residence desks are open 24 hours to issue keys, process maintenace requests, and offer support from on-call residence life staff.
Academic Support, Mentorship, and More
Students in Residence Learning Communities Perform 2% Higher
Want to live, learn, and connect with fellow students in your program?
- Check out our Residence Learning Communities! Whether you're looking to live with students in your program or others who share your interests, we have a community for everyone.
- Plus, with dedicated Academic Support right in residence, you’ll have access to Academic Support Centers staffed with Residence Life Staff to help you succeed in your studies.
Meet Residence Life Staff
Looking for guidance from an upper-year student who’s been in your shoes?
The first few people you'll meet when you move into residence are our Residence Life staff (the ones in red vests).
They play important roles, providing on-call support, academic help, mentorship, and organizing events and programs throughout your time in residence.
We're ranked #1 in Food
Over the past decade, we've been voted the #1 University Food Service in Canada by Maclean's Magazine. At U of G, we understand that food is an essential part of your on-campus living experience.
We have 3 Full Service Dining Halls conveniently located inside our Residence buildings, as well as other campus options.
Meal plans are available in different sizes to match your preferences and lifestyle. Explore your Meal Plan Options.
- A meal plan is required in all traditional residences, including our North and South communities.
- In the East Towers and East Village Townhouses, a meal plan is optional due to full kitchen access.
Do you have dietary preferences like vegetarian or halal, or any other food needs? No problem! Reach out to Hospitality Services.
