Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation/Technical, Administrative, Research, Agricultural (OSSTF/TARA) District 35, the union that represents about 225 staff at the University, its regional campuses, and its Research Station Operations, and the University of Guelph have ratified the renewal Collective Agreement that was tentatively agreed to on July 25, 2018. This three year renewal agreement amends the previous agreement that expired April 30, 2018.

The December 2018/January 2019 Holiday Schedule is now available on the Human Resources website.

Linda Mahood, Professor in the Department of History, is about to embark upon her second Leave for Change assignment. She will be our first employee to volunteer in Sri Lanka through this program and will serve as a Women's Entrepreneurship Advisor for the Women’s Development Center in Sri Lanka.  You can check out Linda's profile and follow her journey on her blog from July 21 to August 17, 2018.

Congratulations to the four members of the University of Guelph community who have been selected to participate in Leave for Change in 2018.

Leave for change provides an opportunity for U of G staff and faculty to demonstrate their commitment to global citizenship and international development by contributing their skills and knowledge during short-term volunteer assignments with organizations in developing countries.

Effective Friday, June 1st, 2018, where operationally feasible, the University will be functioning under the guidelines indicated in the Summer Hours Bulletin.

The University of Guelph has finalized the Group Benefits premium rates with Sun Life for the upcoming policy year effective May 1, 2018, and is pleased to report there will not be any changes to the premium rates.

The University of Guelph will lower its flags to half-mast at noon on Friday, April 27th to mark the Day of Mourning in Canada.

This is the 27th anniversary of the event, observed on April 28 each year to honour people who have died or been injured on the job. Once the flags are lowered to half-mast, they will remain so until night fall on Saturday, April 28th.

A joint proclamation recognizing the day has been issued by U of G and the University’s employee groups.

Human Resources is distributing the 2017 Total Compensation Statement for active regular full time staff and select contractually-limited employees.  These statements will be delivered to employees a few business days after April 12^th, 2018.

On November 27, 2017, Bill 148 (the Fair Workplaces and Better Jobs Act) received royal assent, the result of which is significant changes to the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and Labour Relations Act, with minor changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
