In honour of World Gratitude Day on Thursday, September 21st, GREAT at U of G invites you to use one of the below resources to show recognition or appreciation for a colleague or leader.
Following nine (9) days of negotiations, the University of Guelph and CUPE Local 1334, the union that represents approximately 240 trades, services, and maintenance employees of the University of Guelph have reached a tentative renewal agreement on September 12, 2023.
The current agreement expired April 30, 2022.
Negotiating committees for the University and the Union are recommending ratification of the agreement, which addresses several key priorities for both sides.

I would like to nominate Helen Oliver- she works tirelessly at the Animal Health Laboratory to keep everything running smoothly. She volunteers her time for the social committee and united way. She’s a pleasure to work with and she deserves the recognition.
A virtual celebration was held for Helen and a prize was sent to her as a token of thanks.

In 1984, the Canadian Labour Congress established April 28th as the National Day of Mourning in Canada to remember and honour those who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace.
The University of Guelph will lower its flags to half-mast at noon on Thursday, April 28th to mark the Day of Mourning. Once the flags are lowered to half-mast, they will remain so until dusk.
A joint proclamation recognizing the day has been issued by University of Guelph and the University’s unions and employee group leaders.
