Mental Health First Aid Day 2

The Mental Health First Aid Course is a 2 day course that provides participants the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague Program focus: MHFA teaches participants to recognized the symptoms of mental health problems, provide initial help and how to guide a person towards appropriate professional help.

Grow Through Change

As the university environment continues to change, employees are required to change with it. Change usually involves some kind of learning which results in behaviour change and the acquisition of new skills. Grow Through Change introduces employees to the concepts, methods and tools for successful continuous learning at work and throughout their lives.

Free Classical Yoga Class Every Tuesday

Classical Yoga for Total Health and Awareness Classes are FREE! Classes run on Tuesdays from 12-1 in UC, in Peter Clark Hall (PCH). The alternative location is UC RM533. Each session will be approximately 50 minutes long.

"Blue Monday" - Mental Health Resources

The third Monday every January has been called "Blue Monday" for many years because of the cold weather, post-holiday slump and time passed since New Year's resolutions were made.  Although not based on scientific research, this arbitrary date provides an opportunity to highlight the mental health and wellness resources that are available to employees at U of G.  We know that those experiencing mental health challenges, including clinical depression, are affected by many factors, and there is not one day in the year when symptoms appear. 

Leading for Well-being Retreat

Wellness@Work has partnered with Excellence Canada and Human Resources (Learning & Development) to launch a new leadership program at U of G that fosters cross-campus collaboration and the development of leadership competencies that promote the health and wellness and personal success of employees. Leading for Well-being is a two-day program that will build a community of U of G leaders with an enhanced capacity to further cultivate a psychologically healthy and safe workplace for employees.

SafeTALK is an alertness training that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. The SafeTALK trainer will demonstrate the importance of suicide alertness and help participants identify ways people invite help when they’re at risk. Program focus:

Positive Thinking for Vitality at Work

The focus of this session is to explore the science of happiness. The session is grounded in a highly practical and scientifically based approach to understanding happiness. Through a research based approach, Meghan will define happiness and identify some strategies you can apply at work and life to boost your happiness and overall vitality. During the session we will also explore character strength and finding flow in your work and life.
