HPC Physical Well-being Series: Safely and Sustainably Increase Your Activity Levels

After the holiday season, many of us may be trying to get back into our typical routines and start incorporating more physical activity into our day-to-day. But it may be overwhelming to try and find where to start safely in a way that feels good for your body and also is sustainable in the long term.  Join HPC's physiotherapy experts to learn how to safely increase your physical activity levels during the winter months! Ambiguous Grief

Grief from a loss that is hard to define (i.e. grieving someone who is still alive, the breakdown of a relationship or loss of social connection) or one that lacks closure can be difficult to understand and navigate. This session will help you recognize and acknowledge these losses and find ways to define the loss and create a meaningful narrative.  In this session you will:

Hibernate: A virtual, creative workshop on caring for our mental health in winter

Winter is a hard season for many of us. The days are shorter, the quality of light is not as brilliant as the Spring & Summer months, the cold temperatures limit our activities and often lead us to retreat inside. For these reasons and more, our mental health can really suffer during the winter months. Join us for this creative workshop as we focus on how winter can be a season of healing dormancy and restoration. We will use art to explore the ways that we want to care for ourselves in this season.

Looking to start a new fitness or wellness journey? Did you know that all staff/faculty on campus have access to a subsidized rate to use the on-campus facilities? Join us on a tour of what programming/services and equipment is available to our staff/faculty members and why the Athletic facilities might just be the best fit for you! Attendees of this tour will receive a free day pass for recreation in the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, including access to the Fitness Centre and / or a fitness class, to use at their convenience!

Grab your skates and head down to the Gryphon Centre Arena for a recreational skate and snacks. Skating is a great way to take a break in the day. Hosted by Athletics & Recreation for staff and faculty to attend as part of Wellness @ Work. Helmets recommended. Wellness Friday: Supporting the Caregiver

Supporting the Caregiver  Many of us are caregivers for our elderly parents. The stress experienced by caregivers can have negative consequences on our physical and psychological well-being. This session will provide participants with support and resources to help them take care of their loved ones and, at the same time, sustain a healthy quality of life themselves.
