CANCELLED- Wednesday Walks at the Arboretum

Nature is known to be unpredictable and unexpected, so what awaits us today?  Rachel, the Arboretum's Naturalist Intern, leads 1 hour long walks every Wednesday year-round.  Walks start at The Arboretum kiosk at 12:15 p.m.   The hike may be cancelled if there is inclement weather.   Please check the Arboretum's Facebook and Instagram page for a notice if the weekly walk is cancelled due to weather.  For further information contact Sally at scheun06@uoguelph.ca or ext. 52363.

Is going to the refrigerator your #1 stress management strategy?  Many physiological and emotional stress factors push us to eat...   even when we're not hungry! But WHY? This workshop provides information about these stress factors, emphasizing the biofeedback and stress management strategies that can help. Although there is no quick fix, this workshop provides information and stress management strategies to help you take the first step.

CANCELLED- Live Music & Music BINGO: Staff & Faculty Social at Brass Taps

Starting in February, Brass Taps launched a new staff and faculty Friday social each week called Cinq à Sept.  Every Friday, from 4-8pm employees can go to Brass Taps to socialize and connect.  On Friday March 20, there will be live music and an opportunity to play music BINGO. Be sure to reserve your table, as groups receive free appetizers. Drink specials are also available.  Bring your colleagues and stop by after work!  

CANCELLED- Wellness Friday- Improving Workplace Communications

Successful work groups are comprised of individuals who know how to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a variety of settings and circumstances. This session will review the key skills that enhance our ability to work well with others by providing information about speaking confidently and assertively, creating a supportive communication climate, listening effectively, and asking clear questions. CANCELLED- Walking Track Thursdays

There are many benefits to moving your body at work!  For three Thursdays in March, Athletics is opening up the walking track to all employees for free. No membership required!  All participants must check-in with Client Services and sign an electronic waiver to access the walking track.   Please bring your clean, indoor walking / running shoes only.    Please adhere to the posted walking track guidelines. Stop by anytime on March 5, 12 and 19 to enjoy a walk on your lunch break or bring a colleague for a walking meeting.

CANCELLED- Having Difficult Conversations for Staff

The ability to have difficult conversations is an essential skill that enables us to clear the air so that we can be productive at work. With practice, this skill can be developed. Difficult conversations tend to be associated with a negative outcome or a confrontation; but there are ways to have a difficult conversation that has a productive outcome. Productive doesn’t mean agreement; it means a change for the collective good.
