Safety Awards Honour Innovative Student Engineering Designs
Promoter of workplace health and safety instills mindset via post-secondary classrooms
TORONTO, ON – Minerva Canada Safety Management Education Inc. congratulates the winners of its 2018 James Ham Safe Design Award Competition. The annual award challenges Canadian university engineering students and college students in technology programs to make an original contribution toward integrating safety into engineering design.
Provincial Government Invests in CEPS Research
Emily Chiang from the School of Engineering has been awarded with more than $250,000 from the Ontario Government to develop carbon-sequestering soils and fertilizers. The technology will take advantage of carbon capture through mineralization, whereby carbon dioxide in the air reacts with minerals in the soil or fertilizer to form stable carbonate.
CEPS Faculty Receive Recognition for Engineering Achievements
The Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) recently announced the recipients of its 2018 senior engineering awards and fellowship inductees. Among the award winners and fellowship inductees are two faculty members from the University of Guelph’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS).
Engineering Professor and Research Leadership Chair Dr. Edward McBean will receive the Julian C. Smith Medal for achievement in the development of Canada. Only two worthy recipients are awarded with the Julian C. Smith Medal each year.
