At the Senate meeting on May 23, 2017, President Vaccarino announced that as per the Senate-approved policy “Naming of Academic Entities and Awards”, the name of the College of Physical and Engineering Science will be changed to the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, effective immediately.

Tony Vannelli, who recently completed a 10-year term as dean of the University of Guelph’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, has been named provost and vice-president (academic) at the University of Saskatchewan.  He begins his appointment Aug. 1.  “This is a great opportunity for Professor Vannelli and wonderful news for the University of Saskatchewan,” said Charlotte Yates, provost and vice-president (academic).  “Tony’s strong leadership during the past decade has contributed to the success of both the University and the College.

I am very pleased to announce that the Physical Science and Engineering Education Research Centre has a new Director – Dr. Dan Gillis (SoCS) has been selected to serve in this role for a two year term, beginning January 2017.  Please join me in congratulating Dan.

I am writing to inform you that I have appointed Professor Richard Zytner, School of Engineering as the Interim Dean for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences effective immediately. As you know, we had an open call for those who were interested in serving the University in this capacity and many candidates put their names forward.
