Take Our Kids to Work Program

Every year the Upper Grand District School Board, the Wellington Catholic District School Board along with other Ontario school boards co-ordinate a Take Our Kids to Work program whereby Grade 9 students accompany their parent to work and observe them in their daily role as an employee. The University supports this initiative and wishes to ensure that the experience for these students, who may shadow parents at University workplaces on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 is both a safe and a productive one.

Perfectionism in the Workplace Workshop

Join this discussion-based workshop with a focus on identifying effective strategies for reducing perfectionism.  The learning objectives for this session include: Recognize if you are a perfectionist Identify ways in which perfectionists behave Identify strategies to modify or decrease your own perfectionist behaviours Consider the impact of perfectionism in the workplace Facilitator: Joannah O'Hatnick is a Learning Specialist at the McLaughlin Library. 

Free Classical Yoga Class Every Tuesday

Classical Yoga is a particularly effective and efficient system to not only stretch, tone and develop the muscles but stimulate robust health in all systems of the body.  Regular practice can relieve stress and anxiety and promote mental concentration.

Anxiety: Skills & Strategies

This group program meets once a week for 3 weeks to develop and practice skills in decreasing the uncomfortable sensations of anxiety. A variety of long and short self-calming techniques are introduced, along with behaviours that can help prevent escalation of anxiety.  All techniques in this program have originated from research into strategies which decrease anxiety. They have been well studied and the most up-to-date information will be presented.  

Wellness Friday: Managing Time and Energy

Time is a precious resource. The phrase “time=money” is certainly true in a business setting. Individuals require balance in their work lives so that they can meet both their job requirements and personal needs. Is it possible to manage time at work to be both satisfied and successful? This session will explore answers to this question. Facilitator: Homewood Health

Recess League

Do you miss the good old days on the playground? We have the solution for you, Recess League runs weekly with a random sport picked each time inspired by school yard games. Recess League is a great way to have a mental wellness break in the middle of the work or school day! Examples of sports that are played in Recess League are 3-on-3 Basketball, Kickball, Nerf, Ultimate Frisbee, Scooter Dodge-ball, and so many more! There is no previous experience required. 

College Idol

Support United Way while enjoying live musical acts from the campus community. Bring together a table of eight or make new friends on campus by joining another table. Tickets are $15/each or $13/ticket for table of eight. First come, first served. Contact Stephanie Craig scraig02@uoguelph.ca for tickets. You can also participate in the costume contest! Prizes for individual and group costumes. Lunch will be vegetable lasagna with bread, salad, drinks and your choice of candy bar or chips. Gluten-free and vegan options available.

Guelph Student FoodBank Donation Drive
