Wednesday Walks at the Arboretum

Nature is known to be unpredictable and unexpected, so what awaits us today?  Rachel, the Arboretum's Naturalist Intern, leads 1 hour long walks every Wednesday year-round.  Walks start at The Arboretum kiosk at 12:15 p.m.   The hike may be cancelled if there is inclement weather.   Please check the Arboretum's Facebook and Instagram page for a notice if the weekly walk is cancelled due to weather.  For further information contact Sally at scheun06@uoguelph.ca or ext. 52363.

Think Pink Fundraising for Breast Cancer Awareness

Gryphon Football are running a “pink wall” event at the UC to raise donations for breast cancer.  For a donation, you can write on a breast cancer sticker and put it up on the wall. Also, for a minimum $10 donation you can receive a pair of pink mittens.  Football Advancement will match donations for the pink wall, mitts and hoodies up to $2500.

Free Classical Yoga Class Every Tuesday

Classical Yoga is a particularly effective and efficient system to not only stretch, tone and develop the muscles but stimulate robust health in all systems of the body.  Regular practice can relieve stress and anxiety and promote mental concentration.

Take your Break

For the Sake of the Scribble: A Drawing Workshop

Our art has so much to tell us - whether we are collaging images together, painting, or scribbling, it so often a direct reflection of our inner world. This is why artmaking can be such a restorative and compassionate practice of self-care. Join Jazmine for this unique workshop where she will guide a playful exploration of drawing on big and small scales, with a variety of tools as a way to connect with the self. Absolutely no art experience is required, professional scribblers welcome. Space is limited and registration is required.

Self-Care and the Brain Talk

Let's talk about how to use self-care to Optimize the learning and memory capacities of your mind, today!   This session will explain the effects that lack of exercise, reparative sleep and chronic stress can have on the neurons in your brain.  Recommendations for these three topics will also be discussed, including explanations for what optimal exercise, sleep and stress can do for your learning and memory capacities. Speaker: Theresa Martin (M.Sc. – Neuroscience) from Optimizing Human Minds (OHM).
