Wellness Friday: Building Resilience- Understanding Challenges, Learning Strategies, and Accepting Change

Research shows that individuals can improve how well they adapt to challenges and adversity. This session will help break negative thought patterns and offer healthier ways of thinking and behaving. Participants will be introduced to a variety of effective, practical tools to improve physical health, respect mental/emotional health, and cultivate a strong social support network. U of G Celebrates Pride with Flag Raising and Events

From May 31 to June 7, U of G will fly the Pride flag to celebrate and honour the LGBTQ2IA+ community. Take part in the official flag raising Friday, May 31 at 9 a.m. by the University Centre south entrance. Throughout June, Pride events are happening around the city and on campus:

Women, Work and Wellness: Listening to your Body

Today’s workplace is dynamic, fast paced and demanding for both the mind and the body. This 3-part series will explore the impact of our self-care habits on our day-to-day wellness. The overall goal for the series is to create a warm and engaging space for women to connect with one another to discuss their relationship with their body and their self-care habits. Sessions will examine what self-care looks like for you, your connection to your body signals for hunger, fullness, fatigue and stress, as well as helpful mindfulness strategies and using your strengths for success.

Wednesday Walks at the Arboretum

Nature is known to be unpredictable and unexpected, so what awaits us today?  Rachel, the Arboretum's Naturalist Intern, leads 1 hour long walks every Wednesday year-round.  Walks start at The Arboretum kiosk at 12:15 p.m.   The hike may be cancelled if there is inclement weather.   Please check the Arboretum's Facebook and Instagram page for a notice if the weekly walk is cancelled due to weather.  For further information contact Sally at scheun06@uoguelph.ca or ext. 52363.

Are you a leader on campus looking for additional guidance on how to support your employees as we transition to a tobacco- and smoke-free campus? Drop by Alexander Hall, for an information session on the Guide for Leaders and ask any questions you may have to members of the Smoke-Free Campus Steering Committee.   Please register in advance.

Better Sleep Program (in-person or online)

This 5 session group program meets once a week to provide information and skills instruction in the cognitive / behavioural techniques which decrease insomnia and promote better, more restful, sleep. For greatest success, daily home practice is very strongly recommended. The next Better Sleep Program meets weekly for five consecutive Tuesdays beginning on May 28th, 2019 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.  The program ends on June 25, 2019. If you cannot make it in person to the Tuesday evening program, you can do it on-line!

RBC Lunch & Learn: Supporting your Aging Loved Ones

As a loved one’s needs increase, you can suddenly find yourself overextended physically, mentally and even financially. Where can you turn when an aging loved one needs help? Did you know there are local resources to help guide you? In this session, we will partner with local experts that can help answer your questions. Presenters: Advisors from RBC and their community partners
