Free Drop-In Recreational Skating - March 2023

This March, grab your skates and head down to the Gryphon Centre Arena for a recreational skate. Skating is a great way to take a break in the day. Helmets recommended. No skate rentals are available. Register through Qualtrics! Hosted by Athletics & Recreation for staff and faculty to attend as part of Wellness@Work.

Celebrate February with some skating, hot beverages, and snacks! Grab your skates and head down to the Gryphon Centre Arena for a recreational skate. Helmets recommended. No skate rentals are available. Hot beverages and light snacks will be available. Please also consider bringing an item to donate to the Guelph Student FoodBank. Register through Qualtrics! Donations for the Guelph Student FoodBank will be collected. 

Take Your Break: Free Hot Beverage for All Employees

Taking regular breaks during the work day can help you de-stress and re-charge. Stop by the UC Courtyard or the OVC Cafeteria between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. for a free hot beverage. Bring along your colleagues. This opportunity is available for all U of G employees.

Wellness Friday: Cholesterol, Eating to Reduce Your Risk

High cholesterol is a major risk factor for: heart disease and stroke, increasing health risks for over a third of North Americans, and raising costs for organizations in lost productivity and healthcare expenses. Fortunately, high cholesterol is largely preventable and treatable with the right diet and lifestyle. This session will examine the risks of different types of fat and cholesterol, and describe how to lower cholesterol levels with a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet.

Guided Winter Walk in the Arboretum

Celebrate Valentine's Day by joining us on a guided walk while we support our physical well-being and our heart health with some low intensity steady state cardio. Take your break and join us for an hour-long interpretive nature walk as we do a general winter walk through one of the Arboretum's old growth forests. Please remember to dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and bring your water bottle as needed.  Learn more about U of G's Arboretum. 

COVID-19: What's New with Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos

Join Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos for a brief talk on the current status of COVID-19 and what post COVID-19 Public Health might look like.  He will provide details about the state of current information both locally and across Canada as well as review the latest science on prevention. The talk will provide some perspective on the potential path of the pandemic over the coming weeks and months. Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos will answer questions you have related to COVID-19.
