Holiday Stress Prevention with Yoga

Classical Yoga

Help yourself establish a routine and deepen your practice by joining our virtual Yoga Class every Tuesday and Thursday from 12 - 1 PM. Bring calm, clarity, and peace to the mind.  Everyone – faculty, staff, students, alumni, retirees, visiting scholars – Welcome!  No experience required. Try not to eat 2 hours before the practice.  "A yoga collective that cares about cultivating health and wellbeing on the diverse U of G campus and beyond. Our goal is to offer valuable tools for achieving a balanced state of mind and body."

Prioritizing the Emotional Side of Change

For Senior Leaders, Chairs, Directors, People Managers Leading through change is a very difficult leadership skill to master. Change comes with ambiguity, uncertainty, and unpredictability, all interpreted as threats by our brain. Even when a change initiative is well thought out and will clearly make things better, push-back and resistance can be expected.

CMHA: Compassion Fatigue for the Caregiver

Compassion Fatigue is also known as the “cost of caring”.  A common experience among caregivers providing ongoing care for an ill or aging family member is the feeling of exhaustion and emotion depletion at the end of the day, often with no end in site.  Join us for this one-hour webinar to learn some tips to mitigate the impact of Compassion Fatigue for Families. Registered attendees will also receive the recorded webinar emailed to them afterwards.  This ensures those working on shift have the ability to review the helpful information when they have time.

Mood Routes

The Student Wellness Education and Promotion Centre will be offering a virtual lunchtime walking group on a drop-in basis through the summer. 

Wellness Friday- Stress Busters

When stressors overwhelm us, effective techniques can help to bring us back to equilibrium. This session will explore all aspects of the stress response, focusing on practical tips and tools to bring us to optimal stress levels, thereby helping us to maximize our energy and performance. Weekly Mindfulness Drop-In

Each session will open with taking some time to connect and presence ourselves in the virtual space: unmuting ourselves, saying hello, telling a story, saying something about how things are going. Next, we will do some breathwork, then a short gratitude practice, and then a short practice of acknowledging (silently) our hopes, our longings, what we are wanting more of in/from life, maybe even asking for it. Following this we will do one of three practices: 1. Coming to our senses 2. Cultivating Equanimity 3. Guided Imagery (active imagination)

COVID-19: What's New with Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos

Join Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos for a brief talk on the current COVID-19 pandemic.  He will provide details about the state of current pandemic both locally and across Canada as well as review the latest science on prevention. The talk will provide some perspective about the potential path of the pandemic over the coming weeks and months. Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos will answer questions you have related to COVID-19.
