Science of Happiness (Homewood Health)

This International Day of Happiness, join our EFAP provider, Homewood Health to learn about the Science of Happiness. Scientific studies have shown that 50% of our individual differences in happiness are determined by our genes, 10% by our life circumstances, and 40% by our intentional activities. This one-hour session will introduce participants to some of the research-based “happy habits” that can be adopted to increase levels of happiness and well-being.

Working Through Menopause

Although the transition from peri-menopause to menopause is a normal part of every woman’s life, many of the changes can be very disruptive. It doesn't have to be that way!  Women may experience symptoms of peri-menopause beginning in their early 40's and continue to experience symptoms into their 50’s. Simple nutritional and lifestyle modifications can have a big impact on the experience of menopause and beyond. Let’s change the narrative on menopause to make it a time of empowerment and personal growth. During this seminar, we will discuss the following:

Women's Only Swim

Athletics is opening their Women’s only swim in March for staff and faculty to attend for free! No membership is required. Staff should enter through Client Services to register for their free swim pass. Everyone should enter the pool through the changerooms. Locks are available for rent for $1 or you may bring your own lock. Bags are not permitted on deck and all belongings should be secured in a locked locker. Women, Work and Wellness: Breath and Voice Workshop

“The voice is our emotional engine.  It carries our energy, health, vitality, joy, and intelligence.  Our voices are powered by the breath so we must learn how to belly breath”.  (From Play the Part:  Master Body Signals to Connect and Communicate for Business by Gina Barrett). In 2020, Linda Watt did a session on “Powerful Speaking”.  That session generated a lot of discussion and interest.

U of G on Tour: Get to know your campus Athletics & Recreation Facilities!

Looking to start a new fitness or wellness journey? Did you know that all staff/faculty on campus have access to a subsidized rate to use the on-campus facilities? Join us on a tour of what programming/services and equipment are available to our staff/faculty members and why the Athletic facilities might just be the best fit for you! Attendees of this tour will receive a free day pass for recreation in the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, including access to the Fitness Centre and / or a fitness class, to use at their convenience!

Employee Appreciation Day is on Friday, March 1st and GREAT at U of G is delighted to invite you to join the festivities. Appreciation is the acknowledgement and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something. Drop-In Blood Pressure Clinic

High blood pressure can increase your risk for serious health problems including stroke, heart disease, and heart attacks. As faculty and staff, you can take an easy step to improve your heart health and drop-in at Occupational Health and Wellness to get your blood pressure tested.  Drop-In Blood Pressure Clinics:  Registration is not required. Put a hold in your calendar for the time you wish to attend to make sure you remember to attend!
