Tony Vannelli, who recently completed a 10-year term as dean of the University of Guelph’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, has been named provost and vice-president (academic) at the University of Saskatchewan.  He begins his appointment Aug. 1.  “This is a great opportunity for Professor Vannelli and wonderful news for the University of Saskatchewan,” said Charlotte Yates, provost and vice-president (academic).  “Tony’s strong leadership during the past decade has contributed to the success of both the University and the College.

I am very pleased to announce that the Physical Science and Engineering Education Research Centre has a new Director – Dr. Dan Gillis (SoCS) has been selected to serve in this role for a two year term, beginning January 2017.  Please join me in congratulating Dan.

I am writing to inform you that I have appointed Professor Richard Zytner, School of Engineering as the Interim Dean for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences effective immediately. As you know, we had an open call for those who were interested in serving the University in this capacity and many candidates put their names forward. I want to thank you all for your strong interest and support for the College. We have great leadership talent within the College and I appreciate everyone's interest in this position.

I am pleased to announce that Professor Leonid Brown has agreed to become the Associate Dean, Research & Grad Studies beginning a 5-year term on November 1, 2016. All four candidates that were considered were excellent candidates. The Associate Dean Research & Grad Studies Search Committee reached a unanimous consensus and was pleased to recommend Leonid Brown for this position.
