Almost 7 years ago, Gabriele Wehrle came to Guelph to start her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological & Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Today she is working on her Masters of Science underneath Professor Jennifer Murphy researching carbon-capture materials. Finding a home at U of G, Gabriele has always looked for ways to be involved with the on-campus community.

When it comes to testing the limits of what we know about the nature of the universe, nothing quite compares to black holes. These objects have extremely large masses packed into a very tiny space, exerting a gravitational pull so strong that space and time are warped around them and not even light can escape their grasp.
Greenhouses offer a 365 day a year growing cycle, increasing our food security and access to fresh produce year-round. Growing efforts by the industry are resulting in more sustainable production practices, including reducing energy and water use, and finding alternatives to plastic packaging.

Not alone, but... Math can do some cool things to help us. So many of us struggle with math and fail to see the beauty of patterns, and the power of big data. While the wicked problems of today cannot be solved by math alone, it plays a critical role in a multi-disciplinary approach to finding the solutions we need.
