Take your Break: Free hot beverage for employees currently working on-campus only

Taking regular breaks during the work day can help you de-stress and re-charge. Employees who are currently working at the Guelph campus as requested by their Manager or Supervisor, are invited to enjoy a free hot beverage on Oct 14 morning.  This opportunity is only available to those who are working on-campus, and those working remotely are not to come to campus for this event.  Stop by the UC Centre Six Tim Hortons or the OVC Cafeteria  between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. for a free medium coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

Coffee Connections: Gardening and Plants

Calling all gardeners and plant enthusiasts!  Join this edition of “Coffee Connections” to casually connect with colleagues from across U of G. This is a social chance to connect virtually with other faculty and staff to chat about a common interest: plants! Share how your indoor or outdoor plants are doing, Fall gardening tips or questions you have for other gardeners. Coffee Connections is a series running several Fridays in October, with the intention of building community connections on campus over a shared interest.

Mindfulness Everyday: A Mini-Mindfulness Retreat

Feeling unfocused? Overwhelmed by everything you have to do? Wishing that you spent less time planning and more time simply being? Mindfulness Everyday: A Mini-Mindfulness Retreat might just be the support you’re looking for! Lead by Victoria Fritz, a Registered Social Worker, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Facilitator trainee, future Dr. Fail (via her PhD), and self-proclaimed cat-lady this workshop will take a hands-on look at mindfulness in everyday life. We will explore what mindfulness means and take a brief look at some current mindfulness research.

CMHA Webinar: Isolation and Loneliness

Register for this webinar hosted by CMHA. Loneliness is something that can affect anyone. Whether it is due to isolation, or feeling like we don’t fit in, feeling disconnected from others can influence our sense of well-being. Sometimes our thoughts, feelings and fears can keep us stuck in a negative pattern that can impact our mood and ability to engage with ourselves and others. In this webinar we will look at some quick and easy strategies to help us cope with some of those feelings and behaviours to help us feel more connected.
