Human Rights Fundamentals- Anti-Discrimination and Harassment

This interactive workshop encourages participants to move beyond the text of Ontario’s human rights legislation to understand how legal requirements affect our day-to-day work. How do we identify when behaviour is harassment or discrimination? How do we know when behaviour rises to the level of a human rights violation? What is a reasonable response to a complaint in the circumstances? How do we prevent human rights violations from occurring in the first place? This workshop provides tools and strategies to respond to each of these questions.

Working Better Together with Authentic Collaboration

This two-part, experiential workshop catalyzes a new conversation about the art and skill of collaborative leadership. Participants will explore the challenges and strengths of campus collaboration and discover the possibility of collaborating with greater ease, effectiveness, and meaningful connection. Note that this workshop is based on Elizabeth’s book entitled. “Authentic Collaboration: A Bridge to Meaningful Connection”.

Microsoft Excel 365 - Intermediate

Microsoft Excel is used to create and format spreadsheets, and analyze and share information. This hands-on seminar will expand on the topics covered in the Introductory session.

NEW Days - October (In-Person)

NEW Days is the kick-off to the NEW @ the U program at the University of Guelph. Respectful Relationships in the Workplace

This session has been cancelled. Creating a respectful workplace is everyone’s responsibility. This workshop will raise awareness around what respectful behaviour looks like, promote the adoption of a professional attitude, assist with the development of effective communication skills, and suggest common standards for respectful behaviour. safeTALK Suicide Prevention Training

Designed by Living Works, safeTALK is a 3.5-hour alertness training and certification that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. This training includes understanding of the importance of suicide alertness, learning to identify ways people invite help, and how to connect those who need help with resources when they are at risk.

Beyond the Books Mental Health Literacy Training

Beyond the Books is a training that will provide participants with general information on the prevalence of mental challenges and illness, help participants to identify signs of troubling behaviour, and give them skills to engage in a preliminary discussion to determine if referral to a professional is necessary, all within the U of G context.

Dealing with Difficult Behaviour in the Workplace

In the course of the work day, leaders may encounter people or situations that result in feelings of being anxious, frustrated, or angry. Reducing Stress in the Workplace for Leaders

Stress is one of the biggest problems individuals face in the workplace today and leads to reduced productivity and increased absenteeism. This three-hour workshop will provide managers with an understanding of how stress affects productivity, and how to identify and help stressed employees. Equity Essentials- Call it out? Identifying and Responding to Microaggressions

This session will explore how to engage critically in anti-oppression and provide frameworks for engaging in anti-oppressive practices at the University. Anti-oppression is an ongoing and active process of recognizing and addressing individual, institution, and systemic oppression. Applying an anti-oppressive frame to our work is essential to cultivating an inclusive campus where every individual experiences a sense of belonging. This session will identify the systems and attitudes that contribute to microaggressions and discuss strategies for responding effectively.
