We are seeking someone with a passion for dairy to fill the role of Dairy Herdsperson Apprenticeship Coordinator. This role is pivotal in managing and delivering our Dairy Herdsperson Apprenticeship program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering strong relationships with students, employers, and community partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dairy farming, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for education and mentorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan course outlines based on the Curriculum Standard, including training schedules with classroom time, guest lecturers, farm visits, and on-campus barn time.
  • Deliver education sessions and ensure all learning objectives are met.
  • Evaluate student accomplishments regularly using multiple assessment types to provide timely feedback to students to ensure continued growth and development.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for students (apprentices) and their employers, providing support during their apprenticeship and addressing questions from employers and learners about the training program.
  • Complete or update relevant reports, records and apprenticeship documentation.
  • Continuously update learning material based on new research, industry information, and student feedback.
  • Develop and implement strategies for student recruitment and retention activities, including participating in events to build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and farm partners. Work collaboratively with team members to create social media content to reach target audiences.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, identifying alternative funding sources as needed.
  • Coordinate key functions for development of new livestock education opportunities.

Requirements of this position include:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Three years of experience in a teaching or similar role
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook 365), and the ability to learn and adapt to specialized software systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, employers, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety standards and regulatory requirements in the agricultural sector.
  • Experience working on a dairy farm

Preferred requirements:

  • Familiarity with Dairy software programs (Dairy Comp)
  • Experience in developing educational programs
