The President’s Task Force on Student Mental Health was created in January 2023 to engage the community and co-produce recommendations on how we can build on existing work, adapt initiatives for U of G, and propose actions to continue our efforts toward becoming a health-promoting university. The report continues U of G’s recognized leadership in addressing student mental health on campus and contains 40 recommended actions that will take a whole-of-the-University approach to address student mental health across the following pillars:

  • Institutional structure: Organization, Planning, and Policy
  • Supportive and inclusive campus climate and environments
  • Mental health awareness and anti-stigma
  • Early identification and community capacity to respond to concerns
  • Student self-management and coping skills
  • Services and accessibility

Reporting to the Co-chairs of the President’s Taks Force on Student Mental Health, the Project Coordinator will support the University of Guelph’s implementation of the Task Force’s recommendations. The Project Coordinator will be required to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals across all levels of the University.  They must possess a high level of self-awareness, diplomacy, and tact. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the communication of the prioritized recommendations and provides ongoing updates on progress towards these goals across the University campus and a diverse audience.  They are highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at one time and work with team members in the effective implementation of the priorities.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a relevant undergraduate degree (master’s preferred) with:

  • Experience with project management including planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting.
  • Capacity to build and foster collegial and collaborative relationships and environments in a diverse environment.
  • Human relations skills and a professional approach that helps influence change and growth mindset.
  • Navigating a large, complex organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences through the building of rapport, adaptive style, and active listening.
  • Capacity to exercise a high level of judgement, diplomacy, tact and respect.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work effectively under pressure, meet established deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • A general understanding of issues related to student mental health and the concept of a whole-of-the university approach.
